Fifty years ago the first Australian advisory team’s boots hit the ground in Vietnam.
Richard explores the anniversary with the President of Vietnamese Community in Victoria, Bon Nguyen.
At 12-years-old his father was so afraid of being killed by the communist regime that he put Bon on a boat alone.
He spent three years in the Philippines and met his parents in Australia soon after.
He gives his own account of the Vietnam war.
Melbourne town hall is hosting an exhibition on the Vietnam War from 17-19 August.
