Sau 30 tháng 4 năm 1975, như hàng trăm ngàn quân nhân Việt Nam Cộng Hòa, tôi bị hai tên công an xã với súng AK lăm lăm trên tay, đến nhà tôi ở một nơi hẻo lánh  trên bờ sông Hậu Giang (tôi đang lẩn trốn vì không ra trình diện) bắt đi tù cải tạo.

Soldiers occupied homes so they could control family affairs, and people were left in a state of limbo as they waited for the new Communist government to take control.

30 năm sau

Thirty years ago a Dutch supply ship passing through the South China Sea rescued a boat of Vietnamese asylum seekers. Three decades on a Melbourne woman has been reunited with the ship's captain, the man her family calls their saviour.

 

Family fled Vietnam in a boat to gain new life

TAM Dang was just three years old when he and his six brothers and sisters were pulled from their beds in the middle of the night and put on a boat for a one-way trip to a new country and a new life. Mr Dang's parents took the ultimate gamble, making the choice to immigrate to Australia from Vietnam in the '80s.
