V/V: Chính phủ Lao Động tiểu bang Victoria và văn kiện thoả thuận MOU với Trung Cộng
Trong những ngày qua, tại Victoria có nhiều những bàn luận về việc chính phủ Lao Động tiểu bang Victoria ký văn kiện thoả thuận thương mại (Memorandum of Understanding) với chính quyền Trung Cộng.
Đa số các chuyên gia phân tích đều cho rằng đây là một quyết định nông nổi.
Là một cộng đồng người Việt tỵ nạn, chúng ta đều biết có hàng ngàn đồng bào, người thân và gia đình trong cộng đồng đã liều mình đánh đổi mạng sống vượt thoát chế độ cộng sản để có hai chữ Tự Do nơi xứ sở này, BCH CĐNVTD Vic không thể không lên tiếng bày tỏ quan ngại.
Sự tham vọng bành trướng của Trung Cộng qua chương trình Belt Road Inititiative (BRI) đều được rất nhiều chuyên gia phân tích, và là việc người Việt, đặc biệt thế hệ thứ nhất, đều hiểu rất rõ vì quê hương Việt Nam chúng ta đã và đang đứng trước nguy cơ tham vọng bành trướng này.
Sống trong một xứ sở tự do, BCH CĐNVTD Vic cho rằng việc lên tiếng bày tỏ quan ngại là một bổn phận và trách nhiệm của mỗi người dân, và đặc biệt với cộng đồng có hàng ngàn đồng hương tỵ nạn chế độ cộng sản, và BCH chúng tôi thực hành công việc này trong tinh thần trách nhiệm, bổn phận và theo quan điểm lập trường của Cộng Đồng Người Việt Tự Do.

Dear The Hon Daniel Andrews
RE: Victorian Government and the Memorandum of Understanding on Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)
We write to express our deep concerns above the above arrangement between the Victorian government and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) government.
We take our civic engagement seriously and responsibly.
We care deeply about the democratic values of this state and nation with first hand experience from many shattered families and individuals who risked their lives escaping the atrocity of the Vietnamese communist regime, in search for the democratic values this state and nation have to offer. Regimes like China and Vietnam have poor transparency history and their track records on human rights, restrictions on freedom of religion, of the press, and of assembly against their own people are atrocious.
Further, a national constitution that enshrines a President in perpetuity must be a factor for consideration when entering into such trade agreements.
The Vietnamese community is a clear example that embraces multiculturalism, actively engages and cooperates in our state to ensure we have a cohesive, vibrant and prosperous state. Many Victorians of Vietnamese background are doing our part in all walks of life and contribute to the richness of this state.
Since the BRI was launched, much has been written about China’s domination ambition. The rights of citizens to live freely and safely in our own country, without threats or perceived threats from foreign interference, particularly from countries that have contrary values to those of our democratic foundations, must be at the core of any government including Victoria’s.
”Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all others…”. In a democracy where citizens and communities are empowered to exercise our basic human rights without fear of reprisal, we express our concerns about the threats to our democratic values that underpin the BRI. Our first hand experience with such regime offers evidence that the consequences may manifest in years to come and with impacts that may be far worse than we are prepared to accept.
As a matter of principle, we express our concerns and want to ensure that our democratic values are not eroded by the soft influence regimes such as China.
