Ban Chấp Hành Cộng Đồng Người Việt Tự Do Victoria trân trọng chúc mừng Ts Kiều Tiến Dũng đã chính thức được cử tri tín nhiệm, đắc cử Hội Đồng Lập Pháp Viện Quốc Hội tiểu bang, vùng Đông Nam Melbourne.
Người Victoria gốc Việt chúng ta đã mất đi một thời gian dài gần 20 năm mới có thêm một nghị sĩ thế hệ thứ nhất vào Quốc Hội. Đây là một điều vô cùng hãnh diện và đáng mừng cho toàn thể khối người Victoria gốc Việt và người Úc gốc Việt nói chung.
Sở dĩ người Việt chúng ta có mặt trên khắp năm châu và tại Victoria vì Quốc Hận 30/4, và biết bao người Việt đã đánh đổi mạng sống để tìm lại hai chữ Tự Do nơi đệ tam quốc gia. Cũng hơn 4 thập niên qua người Việt khắp nơi trên thế giới đã không ngừng tranh đấu, vận động để có sự tự do cho quê hương Việt Nam dù đã đạt được một cuộc sống ổn định, thành công.
Được biết Ts Kiều Tiến Dũng xuất thân từ một gia đình có truyền thống yêu nước của chính thể Việt Nam Cộng Hoà, từng sống qua những ngày tang thương khói lửa của chiến tranh tại quê nhà, từng vượt biên và đạt được văn bằng cao tại Úc Đại Lợi, nên chúng tôi tin rằng Ts không thể không hiểu về hiện trạng bi thảm của đất nước trước cảnh lãnh thổ, lãnh hải đang dần dần bị Trung Cộng thôn tính.
Dù BCH CĐNVTD Vic được sự tích cực giúp đỡ từ các dân biểu đa đảng và các dân biểu độc lập trong việc vận động, chúng tôi rất cần những sự hỗ trợ nơi những vị dân cử thấu hiểu nỗi đau của cử tri mang gốc Việt, để giúp BCH CĐNVTD Victoria trong việc hỗ trợ và vận động cho những nhà tranh đấu, những vị lãnh đạo các tôn giáo, những người dân oan uất ức nơi quê nhà, trước những điều luật bán nước hại dân csvn đang áp đặt.
BCH CĐNVTD Vic rất hoan hỉ có được một nghị sĩ sau một thời gian dài, và vô cùng lạc quan trước một sự hậu thuẫn sẽ nhận được nơi nghị sĩ đã am hiểu nỗi đau mất nước của những cử tri gốc Việt tại tiểu bang Victoria.

CONGRATULATIONS TO PROFESSOR TIEN KIEU’S ELECTION TO THE VICTORIAN PARLIAMENT’S LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
Yesterday the Victorian Electoral Commission announced the results of the Victorian upper house election, and we learnt that Prof Tien Kieu has been formally confirmed as one of the 5 successful members of the Legislative Council for the South Eastern Metropolitan Region.
It has been almost two decades for Victorians of Vietnamese background to see another first generation Australian of Vietnamese background to enter the Victorian Parliament. It is indeed a proud and celebratory moment for all Victorians and Australians of Vietnamese background.
Australians of Vietnamese background, particularly those from the first generation, have the painful lived experience of having fled their homeland in search for freedom, and this painful lived experience has manifest in strong civic engagement, embrace of multiculturalism, and relentless advocacy efforts for improved human rights conditions in Vietnam, four decades on.
We understand Prof Kieu is a descendant of the former Republic of Vietnam parents with strong embrace of his country of heritage, has lived through times of the Vietnam War, and has the painful lived experience fleeing his own mother land in search for freedom. He is also an established person in the academic, corporate and community settings.
Whilst the VCA Vic’s advocacy efforts receives supports from all sides of politics and independents, we trust Prof Kieu’s wealth of knowledge and empathy for the excruciating and enduring pain from Victorians of Vietnamese background who lost their homeland to an authoritarian regime, will help elevate matters regarding the silent invasion of dictatorship regimes in our Parliament. He is well qualified with both academic qualifications and the first-hand experience to represent Victorians in the Victorian Parliament, particularly those of Vietnamese background.
As a representative organisation with a long track record of advocacy on human rights for Vietnam amongst others, the VCA Vic are pleased to see the trust placed upon Prof Kieu from Victorian constituents, and trust we will find ourselves a strong ally in the Victorian Parliament, who most understands and feels the pain constituents of Vietnamese background have and continue to endure, for having left and lost their own homeland.
