Thông báo số 4 - Nhóm Du Học Sinh Việt Nam nhục mạ Cờ Vàng ở Marrickville, NSW

Kính thưa Quý Hội Đoàn, Đoàn Thể và Quý Đồng Hương,

Sau 17 ngày BCH CĐNVTD NSW làm Thỉnh Nguyện Thư để yêu cầu Bộ Di Trú hủy visa của những cá nhân nhuc mạ Cờ Vàng, chúng tôi đã nhận đươc trên 16,000 chữ ký ủng hộ từ quý đồng hương xa gần trong và ngoài nước Úc. 80% chữ ký là từ Úc và 20% là từ của nhiều nước khác trên thế giới. BCHCĐ xin gửi lời tri ân đến tất cả toàn thể đồng hương đã ủng hộ để chúng ta cùng khẳng dịnh lập trường chính trị của Cộng Đồng.

Và cũng sau khi được xác nhận từ phía Lực Lượng cảnh sát đơn vị Chống hận thù là hồ sơ của vụ việc này đã được đề nghị đến Bộ Nội An để thẩm vấn và điều tra, hôm 24/5 vừa qua chúng tôi đã chính thức gửi văn thư đến Tổng Trưởng Di Trú Alex Hawke đế yêu cầu xem xét về sự việc và hủy visa của những đương sự. Chúng tôi cũng đã đính kèm tất cả những lá thư ủng hộ từ các Hội Đoàn, Tổ chức, Cộng Đồng, chính giới ở Úc, cũng như từ Hoa Kỳ và Châu Âu đến Tổng Trưởng. Đăc biệt nhất là lá thư ủng hộ rất mạnh mẽ của Hội Cựu Chiến Binh Úc tại Chiến trường Việt Nam, cực lực lên án những hành động này. Song song với những thư trên chúng tôi cũng đã gửi những chi tiết về số liệu của Thỉnh Nguyện Thư đến Ông.

Chúng tôi sẽ tiếp tục kêu gọi sự ủng hộ và vận động chính giới của lưỡng đảng tại Quốc hội Liên Bang về vụ việc này trong những ngày tới.

Dear Hon. Alex Hawke MP,

Re: Cancellation of visa on public interest
I am writing to ask you for an action against an act of a group of international students who wilfully desecrated the flag of South Vietnam on 30 April 2021 in Marrickville in the State of NSW.

The group committed the act of desecration while verbally insulted the people of Republic of Vietnam. The act was filmed and circulated on social media in a provocative manner challenging the Australian authorities and the entire Republic of Vietnam population around the world.

Exacerbating the fury and agony of the Vietnamese Community in Australia, this incident took place on the National Resentment Day of the Republic of Vietnam – The Fall of Saigon when thousands of Vietnamese were killed because of the North Vietnam Communist’s attack on 30 April 1975 and millions of South Vietnam people risked their lives on dangerous boat journeys. The day of hundreds of thousands of people died at sea in the search for freedom. Millions of lives were changed irreparably forever.

The South Vietnamese flag is the symbol of freedom and democracy that many South Vietnamese soldiers has sacrificed for, and that of many Australian, American soldiers stood beside during the Vietnam war. The flag is a symbol of honour not only for the Vietnamese Community but also for Veterans of the anti-communist allies who fought and died beside. The flag desecration is heinous and must be condemned.

Australian values respect the freedom, dignity of the individual, and freedom of association that all temporary visa holders must signed and undertake to conduct in accordance with these values. These international students have vigorously violated the Australian values and threaten the well perceived cultural harmony in Australia.

The values that made Australia proud of being a safe, welcoming, cohesive but, at the same time, dynamic and diverse has been undermined. The Vietnamese communities, and the allied veterans all over the world are demanding a cancellation of the students’ visas and deportation to restore the Australian values.

In the event that the students were allowed to remain in Australia, there is a substantial foreseeable risk that the students would incite discord in the Vietnamese Australian community, and involved in activities that are disruptive and in violence threatening harm to that segment. The presence of the international students imposes serious risk to the health, safety and good order of a segment of the Australian community, in particular the Vietnamese Community in Australia.

We have received to date around 16,000 plus signatures demanding a visa cancellation which composes of an approximate 80 percent of Australians, and 20 percent of international concerns. We also received supporting letters from Government representatives, and communities’ leaders from all over Australia and around the world. We attached herein for your records.

I urge the Honourable Alex Hawke MP to consider the public’s interest, the safety and social cohesion of the Vietnamese Australian community to cancel the international student’s visas and effect a deportation.

We note that the NSW Police Hate Crimes Unit, has already referred this matter to the Department of Home Affairs. Further, the NSW Education Department has temporarily suspended the students from school, and pending further disciplinary actions.
